Q:Where does the name DISCAB come from?

A: The original owners also owned a CD store called DisConnection, so when they established the taxi business, they chose the name DISCAB. Like it, Love it or Hate it. We kept the name.

Q: Do you offer student discounts or senior citizen discounts?

A: Of course! We offer a 10% discount to seniors, students and active military.

Q: What areas do you service?

A: While we primarily serve the Lakeland area (which includes Minocqua, Woodruff and Arbor Vitae), we do provide service to other areas of Oneida and Vilas Counties. We also provide transportation to and from Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) in Mosinee, Lakeland Noble F. Lee Memorial Field (ARV), WI and Oneida County Airport (RHI) in Rhinelander, WI. It is best to make a reservation as much in advance as possible to guarantee these rides.

Q: How many people can you stuff into a taxi?

A: Its a taxi, not a clown car. We can only fit six passengers safely and legally in each vehicle. If you are traveling with luggage, we can comfortably seat four adults per taxi.

Q: Where can we go to get a decent meal/drink/hotel room in the Minocqua Area?

A: We consider ourselves unofficial ambassadors to the Lakeland area, so we can not only recommend an establishment, we can take you there (and make sure you get home safely even after a few cocktails).

Q: What is the craziest taxi story you have for us?

A: What happens in DISCAB stays in DISCAB. If you want to follow our blog for some fun stories, interesting facts and news from the road

Q: I'll give you five bucks to take to me to (wherever)...

A: Due to the cost of purchasing, maintaining, insuring and fuelling our vehicles and paying our drivers' wages, we do have to charge a base minimum, or an appropriate per-mile charge.

Q: Should I tip the driver? How much?

A: Tipping is customary for service industry workers, including cab drivers. The amount varies depending on locality. Assume 15% will be enough; an extra $1 to $2 for help with bags. (MONEY.COM) We also get a variety of non-monetary tips and some of them are quite interesting. To see some of them, view the photos on our Facebook page here: FACEBOOK
